How might we establish a shared understanding of stress, trauma, and grief in the context of crisis recovery and renewal?
How might we reframe the behaviors and habits we see in our school communities through a trauma-informed lens, especially as we recover and renew in the aftermath of a crisis?
Take yourself back to a recent crisis you navigated (or maybe take notice of what is happening in the one you’re navigating now). Often in moments of chaos and confusion, we talk about the same things from different definitions and viewpoints, reducing our effectiveness and clarity. Imagine how that might look, sound, and feel different if teams were in sync, were curious about responses they saw and could look for the distinction between stress, trauma, and grief with purpose as they supported students, families, and each other through response and into recovery and renewal.
This foundational workshop takes participants through a learning journey that develops a shared understanding of stress, trauma, and grief, how it manifests in young people (and ourselves), and how trauma-informed approaches integrate with school crisis recovery and renewal.
The resource is an all-in-one facilitator guide, slide deck, and video example of the training in action that can be used to support your school teams. Our vision is that you make meaning of this content for yourself, reviewing the video example and facilitator notes to lead this training for your school teams.
